Sunday Style: Peplum and Houndstooth

Today was not a good picture day. This face describes how I felt about all of the pics as I was looking through them. Sometimes you just have to roll your eyes, grin and bear it.

I felt like Thoroughly Modern Millie because my necklace would not hang straight.
(anyone remember that movie? It was a favorite of mine when I was little)
What the heck? My boobs are tiny, why does my necklace keep getting caught on them?

I wasn't up for retakes and neither was the hubs as he's already asleep on the couch (can't blame him, he got up at 5:30 this morning), so there you go. At least you can see my outfit in them, and I actually loved how this outfit came together.

I went full force into the peplum trend with this shirt. I love the color and the sleeve length. I found it at Kohl's on sale for 9.99 but I had a coupon and Kohl's cash so it was actually free. woo-hoo!

This hounds tooth skirt I have had forever and I still love it as much as when I first got it. I originally was going to wear a black skirt but I switched to add more visual interest. I'm glad because black would definitely have been a little less fun.

And these shoes..... mmm. Love.
They have been members of my collections for at least 4 years. Feels like only yesterday I found them on clearance at DSW.

Some inspiration pics.

Outfit breakdown:
Shirt: So, purchased at Kohl's (for free with Kohl's cash), find it here
Skirt: purchased at Dillard's for 8.99, I think?
Shoes: Michael Kors, purchased at DSW on clearance, can't remember how much
Necklace: purchased at JC Penney's for 3.99

  1. Oh my goodness, those shoes!!! They are Ahhhhmazing! I know, somedays I take a lot at my pictures and think UGH. Retakes! No one likes it when I walk out in an outfit and my camera. I'm pretty sure I've seen my kids run away when they see me coming.
HOWEVER, you look darling... eye roll and all! Love the houndstooth. That's my favorite pattern in the whole wide world! Looks fab... have a great Sunday!

  3. I WISH I LIVED SOMEWHERE WARM.

That's a great combination, and I love that you're not in UT so it's not hidden underneath two coats (like my church outfit today).

    1. True, although mine will be in 3 weeks when I'm out there. I'm going to have to dig to find something warm enough to wear to church in Utah!

    1. I know I feel bad for them, having to be doomed to taking daily pics. But he does like that I dress up more often!
